I was remembering yesterday how much this character meant to me as a young artist!

I was the same age as her when I was playing the game, and she was just super awesome. I thought that she’d make a great subject for a first foray into finishing something in SketchBook Pro.

Pottermore is now in open beta, so I hopped in to check it out.

Hufflepuffery!

My husband ended up in Ravenclaw, and while he feels I should be there as well, the Hat has spoken. Besides, the Hufflepuff common room is closest to the kitchens, and that is awesome.

The prompt was “Steampunk”, but I ended up going in a slightly different direction.

On the Run!

I was cleaning up my files today, and I found this drawing from 2010 that I’d never finished. I kind of liked it, and I don’t think that I’m ever going to be finishing it (as ultimately it’s pretty bland), so I wanted to have the initial art see the light of day as an interesting process piece.

Why, yes, I was attempting to use Sean Connery as reference for the back character, but I just couldn’t take it seriously.

Lately, I have been starting to attend a local Meetup group full of people that love to draw and be generally creative! During the first meeting that I attended, we happened to have a theme of making a mandala; I eventually finished it up and experimented with a bit of watercolor pencil that I found in my old art stuff.

It ended up with a theme of its own, which I lovingly called “The Secret Garden,” after the book.
