I’ve wanted to transition my blog to my own domain for quite a while, and now that I’ve recently switched hosts, I now have the resources to do it. Please excuse my growing pains as I get this site in order!
For those who would like to see the old site (probably most important for the backlinks for my commenters): http://joyceannmartin.blogspot.com
More stuff from my Tumblr. Going to decide the fate of that once I evaluate how I’m using Google+ a little more.
The one in the lower-left was for an Alton Brown Twitter contest. Great fun!
While in the islands, the husband needed to do a little bit of real-world work, so he and I set out trying to find some internet at local cafés.
Café Demeter in Friday Harbor was our choice for a spot to hang out that day. I had one of their super-delicious spinach and feta croissants, which I ended up eating before I could even think about sketching it. Priorities!
After a while, we headed up to the Lime Kiln Café in Roche Harbor, which has the most delicious veggie burger that I’ve eaten to date (not a vegetarian, but I thoroughly enjoy veggie burgers in their own right), which might be helped by the fact that it’s crusted in macademia nuts. So good. Also forgot to draw it. *sighs*
While I was on my vacation, my husband and I brought along a Beta copy of Lyssan, a fantastic strategy board game designed by a friend of ours. I chose to observe and make notes while the other half taught his family the game.
And by “make notes,” I mean, “tried to learn how to use these watercolor things.”
Last week I vacationed with my husband’s family in the San Juan Islands (near Seattle, WA, USA). Waking up to boats in a tree-ringed harbor was a welcome and inspiring change from the box of the office.
